Professor Gabriele Pannocchia (Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering of the University of Pisa, Italy) visited the Institute of Information Engineering, Automation, and Mathematics, FCHPT STU in Bratislava. This one-week visit was organized under the project FrontSeat and aimed to increase our research cooperation and share rich experiences in education.
During the series of informal meetings, the researchers and the Ph.D. students from STU discussed in detail with Prof. Pannocchia their scientific projects. Together they proposed several interesting research ideas enabling the establishment of further research cooperation.
On Thursday (March, 9), the second-year master students of the course on “Model Predictive Control” enjoyed the special lecture led by Prof. Pannocchia. His interesting lecture was focused on the “Offset-Free Model Predictive Control Design”, and this class was opened also for the lecturers and researchers at our institute.
On Friday (March, 10), Prof. Pannocchia delivered a talk as a part of the regular series of scientific seminars on “Research Seminar on Smart Cybernetics”. The scientific lecture was focused on “Systems Identification Algorithms and Software Tools for the Application of MPC in Process Control Systems” (read more).
This visit established deeper research cooperation between the STU and the University of Pisa and helped to improve the education at STU.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon under grant no. 101079342 (Fostering Opportunities Towards Slovak Excellence in Advanced Control for Smart Industries).
